About This Experience

Sit alongside third-generation master potter Upali in his shaded open-air workshop. Knead local riverbed clay, learn ancestral foot-powered wheel techniques, shape your own curry pot or water goblet, and discover the sustainable science behind Sri Lanka’s terracotta cookware.

"Clay cookware is the foundational soul of Sri Lankan village gastronomy. Porous, natural, and earth-born, these pots allow moisture and heat to circulate gently, producing irreplaceable rustic flavours while keeping well water chilled in tropical heat."
